§ 14.6. First Meeting of City Council.

  • The Council first elected under this Charter shall meet at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 1, 1984. This meeting shall be called to order by the Chairman of the Charter Commission. The Council members shall take the Constitutional oath of office which shall be administered by and filed with the Secretary of the Charter Commission. After the Mayor shall take the Constitutional oath of office, he shall preside at the meeting. A Mayor pro tem shall be elected and the Council shall set the times for its regular meetings and shall perform such acts as are required to establish the government of the City. The official files of the Charter Commission shall be turned over to the City Clerk as soon as that person shall be named and shall qualify, and shall be official records of the City.
